What costs are involved when you buy a vehicle at auction?
The winning bid is not the final cost of the vehicle. These are the items involved, who charges them, and which ones belong to Garces.
Each item has its own responsible party
Award price
The amount the vehicle is bought for at auction. It is the starting point, not the final cost.
Paid to the auction, through the dealer or operator
Buyer fees and auction fees
Each platform sets its own buyer fees, administrative charges, additional services, pickup deadlines and storage. They vary by auction, lot and amount.
Charged by the auction
Authorized dealer fees
They belong to the operator who places the bid and makes the purchase under its license and registration. They are shown separately in your breakdown.
Charged by the dealer or operator
Transport
Quoted separately; it depends on distance, vehicle condition, the provider and the type of transport.
Charged by the carrier
Titles and paperwork
The title mailing, additional follow-up services and any applicable government procedures must be told apart.
Depending on the item: dealer, Garces or the government office
Taxes and registration
They depend on the state where you register the vehicle and on the details of the transaction.
Charged by the relevant authority
Garces fees
They only cover the services you hire: for example, the initial fee and award fee of an AUC package, or a SER service. They never duplicate dealer fees or services already included in your package or membership.
Charged by Garces Auto Deals
Title: two different activities
The regular title mailing is handled by the dealer and may carry its own charge (around $25 as a reference, but not a universal rate); it is shown separately in your breakdown. Garces specialized title follow-up (SER-07) is a different service, only if you hire it. The same activity is never charged twice.
See SER-07Transport: when there is a Garces fee
The carrier cost is separate. If the auction, the dealer or the carrier already offers its own quote or transport tool, using it is not a Garces service. Additional coordination (SER-06) is only charged when you hire identifiable work, explained in writing beforehand.
See SER-06Your breakdown arrives in writing, before any bid
Each transaction receives its private breakdown with the items that apply. You review it and, only if you agree, sign your authorization.
